Department of drawing
Welcome to the page of Department of Drawing of the Faculty of Architecture!
Our department is involved in training students of architectural orientation, since the ability to draw is a fundamental skill for all architects. It can be compared to the language using which architects present their ideas and create unique images. Our students study drawing as one of the main special creative disciplines at the Faculty of Architecture.
Practical drawing brings up the creative abilities of an architect and helps to understand the features of the artistic process when creating architectural projects.
The program of training students at the Department of Drawing is based on learning the patterns of perception, on the methods of compositional construction, on the process of acquisition of knowledge from simple tasks to complex ones. Students master the techniques and traditions of watercolor painting, gouaches, pastels, and graphics. The Department has a unique lithographic shop, where our students acquire practical skills in creating lithography and etching, the art of graphic design. New premises have been recently opened, including a sculpture class, an exhibition area, and a dedicated a lecture hall.
At different times, such famous masters as A.S. Vedernikov, N.A. Tyrsa, M.S. Charnetskaya, K.S. Malevich worked at the Department.
Our staff teach students to think creatively and master technical skills, use printing techniques, i.e., all that is necessary for every architect. The creative process is never easy, but true professionalism makes it interesting and exciting.
We’ll be glad to see new students at the department classes and SPbGASU guests at our creative exhibitions and student work presentations!
