History

The Department of Theory of State and Law was established by the resolution of the Academic Council of the St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering in December 2012 as part of the Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport. The Department staff is composed of prominent experts in the field of theory and history of state and law, philosophy of law, constitutional, administrative, municipal and financial law, comparative law, theory of regional legislation and other disciplines. Teachers of the department have experience of working in the courts, the prosecutor's office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, other law enforcement agencies, legal services of enterprises, state and local self-government bodies. They teach disciplines at a high scientific and scientific-methodological level, actively involve students in the scientific work contributing to the formation of students’ professional and scientific skills, and actively cooperate with various state and public structures.

The Department provides for the conditions for the development of legal science and the formation of a educated and independent personality of lawyers (Bachelor, Specialist, and Master’s degree graduates), who have basic fundamental knowledge and skills to put this knowledge into practice.
