DEPARTMENT OF WATER USE AND ENVIRONMENT

Руководитель кафедры водопользования и экологии в петербургском ГАСУ

Dear colleagues, friends! Welcome to the page of the Department of Water Use and Environment.

Currently, the department employs 21 teachers: full members of various academies of Russia, doctors of sciences, professors, candidates of sciences, associate professors, as well as a number of young postgraduate teachers who seek to learn from experience and continue the common cause. Many teachers are involved in production, design and operation services, which, of course, has a positive effect on the quality of information received by students and allows them to be trained as specialists.

The Department of Water Use and Environment is a graduating department. It provides training at three levels of education: bachelor's degree program 08.03.01 "Civil engineering" (profiles "Water supply and sanitation" and "Engineering systems in construction"); master's degree program 08.04.01 "Civil engineering" (profile "Water supply and sanitation"); and postgraduate program 08.06.01 "Construction technique and technology" (profile "Water supply, sewerage, engineering structures of water resources protection"). The employment of our graduates has never been a problem, and all the knowledge gained by students during their studies is used in their subsequent work in full, and this is not an exaggeration. Many graduates of the department have become major engineers, well-known specialists in the field of water supply and sanitation, leading specialists in design organizations, and have also proven themselves in science.

Students and graduate students can conduct various hydraulic and chemical experiments, as well as research on water quality indicators at the departmental laboratories: laboratories of general ecology, water chemistry and wastewater treatment technology, laboratories of water use systems and laboratories of hydraulics.

The Department of Water Use and Environment was formed in 2012 by merging three: the Department of Hydraulics, the Department of Water Disposal and Ecology, and the Department of Water Supply. The united departments now act as subdivisions of the same name. At the same time, the department of water disposal and environment, as well as the department of water supply, were formed more than 100 years ago, which allows the “new old” department of water use and environment to be considered one of the most respected and reliable in terms of training specialists.

Over the years, famous scientists worked at the department, real aces of their specialty - G. N. Nikiforov, I. A. Aptekarev, N. F. Fedorov, S. M. Shifrin and other specialists who were directly involved in the largest projects of the USSR and Russia (development of structures for the protection of St Petersburg from floods, environmental regulation of wastewater discharge into the Neva River Delta, participation in the development of the General Scheme for Water Supply and Sanitation of the City, Rules for Using the St Petersburg Public Communications System).

Close scientific ties have been established with leading Russian and foreign construction and technical universities. In addition, the department cooperates with large research departments and head design organizations. As a result of cooperation, excursions to water supply and sanitation facilities, conferences and seminars are held with representatives of various companies and organizations. We wish you successful learning. Remember that your level of preparation is determined not so much by grades as by your knowledge and skills.
