Welcome to the Department of Technosphere Safety!

The degree awarding Department of Technosphere Safety is one of the new and dynamically developing educational and research divisions of the University. The present-day society exists in technosphere, i.e., the part of the biosphere cardinally transformed due to human activities into technical and technogenic facilities (buildings, roads, and enterprises). The Department trains specialists with broad expertise in the labor protection sphere, provision of industrial safety of technological processes and production, both in ordinary and emergency conditions.

The teaching staff of the Department has high qualification and comprises doctors and candidates of sciences and members of various public academies of Russia.

The Department has lecturing auditoriums equipped with multimedia devices, a laboratory outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and laboratory stands where students can get hands-on training to complement their theoretical knowledge in the course of practical classes and experimental studies.

The Department is part of the North-West Branch of the Association of Teachers and Specialists in the Field of Life Safety (APSB) affiliated with the International Academy of Sciences of Ecology, Human and Nature Safety (MANEB) and the North-West Branch of the Federal Educational and Methodical Association in the “Technosphere Safety” area of training (20.00.00.).

Teachers of the Department collaborate with construction and design organizations; participate in solving problems in evaluating the explosion and fire safety of facilities and the technical condition of buildings and structures. As experts, they conduct tests of construction equipment and materials, and all sort of objects of municipal infrastructure for extreme loading.

The department conducts active scientific activities in the field of occupational safety in the construction industry, the development of monitoring and control systems, and the safety of technosphere objects. All this makes it possible for our teachers to contribute to practical needs in solving complex engineering problems and, on the other hand, to use the expertise gained in teaching. Senior students are usually included in this work.

Our graduates are in demand in construction and beyond. They are necessary in the conditions of modern development of society and production. I would like to wish our students successful training, which will give them the opportunity to receive high-quality specialized education and open up opportunities for further professional development in the vital area of safety in technosphere.
