Enrollment to the Pre-University Department

The Pre-University Department is meant for international students who know no Russian or whose Russian language proficiency is insufficient for mastering university degree programs. The training starts in the beginning of October. Study groups consist of 8-12 people. At the end of the training period (in June), the international students take exams depending on the chosen field of study:

  • Technical fields: Russian, mathematics, physics
  • Economics: Russian and mathematics
  • Architecture: Russian, mathematics and drawing.

At the end of training, a Certificate of Completion is issued to confirm that the international student has passed all examinations and can be enrolled to the first course of a degree program at the university.

If you need an official letter of invitation to take the pre-university training, please contact the Dean's Office for International Students by phone +7 (812) 712-63-40 or +7 (812) 316-73-14.

Foreign citizens taking the pre-university course can stay in the university dormitory (123 Fontanka River Embankment) located within 15-minute walk from the University’s main building. Normally, up to four roommates stay in one room.

Please note that

Applicants from visa-regime countries should submit their applications from May to late August in order to have time to receive a visa invitation and apply for a student visa in their home countries. Routinely, six weeks are required for processing the visa invitation since the date of document submission.

Tuition fees for the preparatory courses vary depending on the specialization. They amount to RUR 190,000 per academic year for the Architectural department, and RUR 150,000 for the Economics and Engineering departments.
