Participants in a webinar on labor protection got acquainted with the possibilities of the new training ground in Krasnoye Selo

Specialists in labor protection, including in construction, became participants in the webinar "Labor Protection in the Finishing Works. Typical mistakes at the example of the interactive training module of the Smart Labor Training Ground” held on April 27, 2020. The webinar was organized by the Unified Center for Labor Safety Specialists, Association / self-regulating organization.

The meeting was opened by the executive director of the Association Irina Belova:

– For some time, we have monitored a very interesting project that is being implemented in our city. This is the SAFECON project (Smart Labor Training Ground), created on the basis of SPbGASU. The topic is quite interesting and relevant: according to statistics, a large number of accidents occur precisely at a construction site. We plan to conduct a cycle of nine webinars, according to the number of modules that have already been installed on the training ground.

The report “Safety, high professionalism and efficiency at construction sites (No. KS1134) 2018–2021” was made by the specialist of the SPbGASU Scientific and Educational Center for Labor Protection in Construction Tatyana Goncharuk:

– Since November 2018, we have been implementing the SAFECON project, which means “Safety, high professionalism and efficiency at construction sites”. The project is implemented as part of cross-border cooperation “Russia - South-East Finland 2014–2020” and is funded by the European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland.

According to Tatyana Goncharuk at the training ground are presented: concrete works using concrete pumps (a process for concreting walls in panel formwork); carpentry cutting wood on a circular saw; final stage of installation of the switchboard; gas cutting of pipes (a fragment of the process of replacing obsolete communications); finishing works; earthworks using a single bucket excavator; welding works; works at heights using construction hoists; production of work by a crane. Each module consists of two installations: one demonstrates a traumatic situation, while the other one shows the work performed in compliance with safety rules. The project is aimed at the psychological motivation for safe work.



Each module has its own concept, notion and idea. The research work was done for the construction: the data on injuries to construction workers provided by the National Association of Builders were analyzed, expert surveys conducted, hazards identified and risks assessed, and scenarios of the occurrence and development of traumatic situations were predicted.



The module for finishing work at the training ground in Krasnoye Selo demonstrates the application of plaster on walls with a height of more than 4 m using a plaster station. Performing work with non-inventory means of conditioning can lead to a fall from a height and, as a result, to a concussion, fractures of the extremities, and bruises. The non-use of personal protective equipment, the lack of protective clothing entails the ingress of chemicals in the eyes and on the skin, which leads to diseases, cuts, and bruises. A polluted and cluttered work area can cause an employee to fall down; increased humidity, the presence of puddles in combination with the use of electrical equipment threatens with electric shock. You can find out about the main violations and their consequences, as well as about the dangers when performing finishing work during a lesson at the training ground. In addition, a computer program for distance learning is under development.

– “We hope that our work will be useful, and the learning process using modules will become more interesting and productive. We are waiting for you!” Tatyana Goncharuk concluded her speech.

The labor auditor, accident investigation expert Ilya Koryavin spoke about the rules on labor protection in the manufacture of plastering. Denis Smirnov, Head of the Department for Supervision of Compliance with Labor Legislation of the State Labor Inspectorate in St. Petersburg, informed about the main labor protection violations during finishing.

According to the participants of the webinar, the reports organically complemented each other. The new training ground in Krasnoye Selo was highly appreciated.

– I would like to thank the developers. The modules are really impressive and, I hope, they will help reduce industrial injuries,” said Denis Smirnov.
