Professor Mangushev Re-Elected as Vice-President of the Russian Society for Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering

On December 28, an extraordinary congress of the Russian Society for Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering (RSSMGFE) was convened to elect the RSSMGFE President, Vice Presidents, the Presidium and the Secretariat.

✔ Professor Rashid Mangushev, D.Sc. in Engineering, Head of the Department of Geotechnics at Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (RAASN), Deputy Chairman of the RAASN Scientific Council on Geotechnics, member of the International Society for Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering (ISSMGE), member of the St. Petersburg City Planning Council and the Council for Protection of Cultural Heritage under the Government of St. Petersburg was re-elected as Vice-President of the Society.

Professor Vyacheslav Ilyichev, a well-known scientist in the field of geotechnics, D.Sc. in Engineering, Honoured Scientist of the Russian Federation, member of the Presidium of ISSMGE, Vice-President of RAASN for Innovations, has been re-elected for another term as the RSSMGFE President.

The Russian Society for Soil Mechanics, Geotechnics and Foundation Engineering is an organization uniting recognized experts in geotechnical engineering from Russia and neighbouring countries. The RSSMGFE activities focus on popularization of science and organizing international and all-Russian conferences in the area of geotechnical engineering.

Re-election of Professor Mangushev as Vice-President of ROMGGIF is the recognition of his merits in the field of geotechnical science, as well as acknowledgment of the outstanding achievements of the SPbGASU Department of Geotechnics that he has been heading for almost 20 years.
