3rd Conference on Organization of Construction Production took place at SPbGASU

For the third time, the Scientific and Practical Conference on Organization of Construction Production, organized by Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, brought together Russia’s prominent and young scientists, graduate and postgraduate students, representatives of specialized industrial organizations. This year the conference was held online on February 10–11.

“The discussion platform created at SPbGASU with the use of Internet resources allows the participants to test the results of their scientific research, submit their innovative ideas for discussion, and share production expertise. The exchange of theoretical knowledge and practical experience between leading researchers and practising specialists in the field of organization and technology of construction production contributes to finding effective solutions to the existing problems", believes professor Irina Drozdova, DSc in Economics, SPbGASU Vice Rector for Science.

One of the main organizers of the event Vasilya Nefedova, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the SPbGASU Department of Construction Management, noted that the participants discussed the organizational and technological issues of planning, management and organization of construction, technologies for the construction of industrial and civil buildings and structures, development and optimization of competitive methods of work organization.

Sergey Bolotin, Doctor of Technical Science, Professor of the SPbGASU Department of Construction Management, believes the conference is a celebration of science, combining the theory and practice of construction production. The topics of the research studies presented by participants have been prompted by life itself: they consider the building of various structures and facilities, both from the point of view of the organization of construction production and their purpose. The scientists’ focus of attention was on railways, urban planning, BIM technologies, restoration of architectural monuments and much more.

Ivan Karasev, a postgraduate student of the Ivanovo State Polytechnic University (ISPU), under the supervision of the Head of the ISPU Department of Production Organization and Municipal Economy, Associate Professor Ludmila Oparina, studies the balance of stakeholder interests in design and construction processes. In his opinion, it is necessary to improve the methodological basis in order to make the construction process more manageable, to introduce quantitative criteria for assessing the participants’ efficiency in an investment and construction project, as well as clear criteria for the quality of its organization.

Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of the St. Petersburg State Transport University (PGUPS) Aleksandr Kabanov, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, is engaged in pre-project development of organizational and technological schemes for the creation of high-speed rail lines under lifecycle contracts. The specific feature of developing high-speed lines is the necessity to collect data on the available resources for construction, information on erection of overpasses or flyovers at the intersection of high-speed lines with level crossings. Inaccuracies in calculations are possible, but due to digitalization and strict state examination of projects, timelines are rarely exceeded.

Postgraduate student of the SPbGASU Department of Construction Management Khenzit Biche-ool made a presentation entitled "Interactive formation of a schedule of production organization of construction for the urban development." The report was prepared by a group of authors, including Professor Sergey Bolotin and postgraduate student Khaytam-Abdulrazzak Bokhan, representatives of SPbGASU, as well as Aldyn-kys Dadar, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Tuvan State University. The study is aimed to develop a synchronized construction schedule that would maximally take into account social standards, which determine requirements for constructing various social and cultural facilities (calculated based on the number of residents living in the area).

Cheinesh Bakhtinova, a member of the Conference Organizing Committee, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the SPbGASU Department of Construction Management, noted that over the three years the conference has attracted permanent participants from all over Russia. Among them are Vasiliy Shalenny, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Academy of Construction and Architecture at the V. I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University; Ludmila Oparina, Doctor of Technical Science, Head of the ISPU Department of Production Organization and Municipal Economy; Aleksandr Kabanov, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management of PGUPS; Dmitry Basovsky, Ph.D. in Technical Sciences, Head of the Centre for Continuing Professional Education at the Academy of Urban Environment Management, Urban Planning and Printing; Aleksey Yurgaitis, senior lecturer at the Department of Technology and Organization of Construction Production of the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering.

✔ The Department of Construction Management of SPbGASU traces its history back to 1901. After several reorganizations, it has received its current name and became a degree-granting department. For more than twenty years it was headed by Professor Viktor Alekseevich Afanasyev, Doctor of Technical Science, founder of the St. Petersburg (Leningrad) school of the production organization of construction.

The current head of the Department of Construction Management Roman Motylev, Ph. D. in Technical Sciences, emphasizes that present-day scientists continue the work of V. A. Afanasyev, implementing his ideas in postgraduate and doctoral research.
