A special feature of the building is that no welding work is required in the erection of the above-ground part, and wet processes are only necessary after the main building structure has been installed: all system elements are connected using the original steel plates and high-strength bolts. The floor slabs of the frame-and-panel building are supported on the outer panels and posts along the inner row.

The proposed structural system makes it possible to double the construction speed and reduce labour costs by 20–24%. It can also simplify the reconstruction of existing buildings. In addition, due to the ease of dismantling, the innovation can be used in the construction of temporary structures. The system has many advantages over the known technologies and is suitable for the construction of residential, industrial and public buildings with a different number of storeys.

According to Prof. Yuri Kazakov, the Department of Construction Technology continues to explore various high-demand topics such as solar lighting system for increasing insolation, transformable hospital blocks for treating viral infections, energy-efficient buildings with an automatic heating system and others. The team that actively works on new patent applications includes Associate Professor Anton Gaido, Head of the Department, PhD in Engineering, Professor Antonina Yudina, Doctor of Engineering, Professor Andrey Egorov, PhD in Engineering.

Scientists of Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering carry out research on a wide range of problems, publish articles both in Russian and foreign scientific journals, create inventions which are successfully implemented in a production environment. Congratulations to the authors and wishing them further success!
