On October 24, 25 and 26, 2012 professors and post-graduate students of the chair of metal constructions and testing of structures of SPSUACE consisting of professor, D.Sc. of engineering, Grigory I. Bely, PhD of engineering, associate professor  Ivan V. Astakhov, and post-graduate students A.A. Litvinov and A.Yu. Kuznetsov visited Finland upon a business trip. The visit was organized under the active part of the Department of international education and cooperation (PhD of pedagogics, associate professor EюЗю Selezneva) and vice-rector for scientific activity, D.Sc. in economics, professor Evgeny B. Smirnov.

The visit programme started with the visit to the Hammeelinna University of applied sciences. In the course of the official meeting with the representatives from the Finnish university (Lauri Tenhunen, Marja Laurikainen, Seppo Niittymaki, Marina Weck) there were discussed opportunities of the international student exchanges with the universities of Finland and other European countries organized at different stages of the academic process: internships, practical trainings, graduation theses preparation.

Second part of the visit took place in Tampere University of Technology. Head of the chair of metal constructions Markku Heiniso talked about the current scientific researches held at the chair and he also presented the capacities of the chair testing laboratory. As the result of the negotiations there were defined topics for further cooperation.

The third part of the visit was held at the research centre Inno Steel where Hammeenlinna Unviersity of Applied Sciences has a laboratory for testing steel sheet structures, and the exhibition pavilion and research office of RUUKKI company, where Mr. Arto Ranta-Eskola – head of the research department – and his colleagues presented products of the company and showed the opportunities of the HAMK laboratory.

At the end of the visit post-graduate students of the chair of metal constructions and testing of structures visited faculty of civil engineering of Saimaa University of Applied Sciences in Lappeenranta where they discussed possible ways of cooperation extension between the universities.
