Last Friday SPbGASU held a meeting between Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Irina Lugovskaia and members of the Youth Policy Division with the newly elected heads of student councils of faculties: Roman Sinelnikov (Faculty of Civil Engineering), Anastasia Fedakova (Faculty of Architecture), Renata Khazhieva (Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport), Sofia Aleksandrova (Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services), Ekaterina Kashitsyna (Faculty of Automobile and Road Building) and Yana Stepanova (Faculty of Economics and Management).

Opening the meeting, Irina Lugovskaia congratulated the chairmen of the student councils of faculties on their victory in the elections, wished them success and spoke about the importance of the positions they held: “A lot depends on the chairmen of the student councils; almost the entire life of the faculty is in their hands. They interact with the elders, with the dean’s office, and contribute to the maximum involvement of students in an interesting, rich student life.” Joining the congratulations, the head of the Youth Policy Division, Irina Nuryeva, on behalf of the entire team, expressed her readiness to assist in the implementation of new student projects and initiatives.

SPbGASU students – participants in the World Youth Festival – were invited to the meeting with the new activists of the student councils. They talked about how they went through the difficult path of competitive selection and shared their vivid impressions.

Antonia Angelova, Chairman of the SPbGASU International Students Council, second-year PhD student of the Faculty of Architecture: “As an architect, I was interested in the modern concept of the Sirius University exhibition space stylized as an international airport, where at the check-in counters we received our boarding passes and began our journey! A pleasant surprise from the festival organizers was Cheburashka, the WYF mascot.”.

Stanislav Rotmansky, head of the Correspondence Unit at the SPbGASU Student Media Center, activist of the student media center of the Ministry of Education and Science, participant in the “Your Move” project, second-year student of the FFLCT: “I received my invitation to the festival on 23 February. This was a real gift. The week of the festival’s intense program flew by like one day. I was able to attend the opening and closing ceremonies of the festival. The appearance of the president of our country in the hall was greeted with delight: young people from different countries chanted: “Russia!” In general, I was struck by the absence of a language barrier: many foreigners spoke Russian quite well. So, a team of guys from Mexico sent their greetings to SPbGASU. I made several videos, I’ll definitely show them.”.

Participants of the festival from SPbGASU also included Ksenia Perkhurova, the head of several youth projects, an activist of the Interuniversity campus, a third-year student of the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building, and Anna Kozhemyak, a participant in the all-Russian project “Your Move”, a first-year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

Let us remind you that the festival took place from 1 to 7 March in Sochi on the federal territory of Sirius and hosted 20,000 Russian and foreign young leaders in the field of business, media, international cooperation, culture, science, education, volunteering and charity.
