The winners of the Ivan Grishmanov award in the field of science, technology and organization of production of building materials industry, structures and the construction industry, have been announced. St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering received the award for promoting modern research methods, the latest equipment and technology for the production of building materials and structures.

The university conducts fundamental and applied research aimed at increasing comfort, safety and quality of life, provide scientific and technical services to organizations in the real sector of the economy, involve students in science, and train scientific and pedagogical personnel in graduate and doctoral studies. The results of this work are presented at conferences at various levels, including those organized on the initiative of executive authorities and organizations of the real sector of the economy.

Our scientists, whose work results were assessed by the competition commission of the Ivan Grishmanov award of the Russian Academy of Engineering, are focused on creation of new and improvement of existing building materials and technological processes, use of by-products of industry and local raw materials, technology of modified heavy and lightweight concrete, heat-insulating and fire-resistant materials and products.

SPbGASU scientists have developed building composites of various densities and strengths and identified areas for their rational use, which served as the basis for the industrial production of products and structures for various purposes.

Our researchers were the first to engage in the synthesis of nano-sized particles and their use to produce high-quality concrete for buildings and structures for various purposes.

SPbGASU proposed methods and means for predicting and preventing the formation and emission of ammonia from concrete building structures. We received patents No. 2552914 “Thermionic method for quantitative determination of ammonia in concrete” and No. 2496751 “Method for cleaning residential premises from ammonia”.

Here they study materials for the restoration of architectural heritage, prevention of concrete corrosion, special concretes and many other building materials.

Ivan Grishmanov award was established by the Russian Engineering Academy to encourage experts who made a significant contribution to science, engineering, professional education, and organization of production of building materials and structures.

Ivan Aleksandrovich Grishmanov (1906–1979) graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Utility Engineers (LIICS, now SPbGASU), was a Soviet statesman and party leader, Minister of the Construction Materials Industry of the USSR in 1965–1979.
