Scientific activity of the Department of Construction Technology

The main research interests and activities of the department are focused at the development and implementation of state-of-the-art industrial technologies in earthwork and piling, concrete and erection works to the cast-in-place construction and low-rise construction, including reconstruction of large-panel buildings and industrial facilities. The research studies at the department and led by prominent specialists, broadly recognized in the national and international professional communities.

The key research areas include:

  • Development of low impact technologies for reconstruction works in the space-limited environment of Saint-Petersburg urban area ( Professor Yu. N. Kazakov)
  • Development of efficient technologies for special construction earthworks with the use of vibration method ( Professor V.V. Verstov)
  • Improvement of the construction technology of multistory residential buildings with high thermal efficiency and comfortability erected of composite construction systems with the use of cast-in-place concrete (Professor Yu.N. Kazakov)
  • Development of construction technologies for low-rise buildings with the use of aerated concrete (Professor V.V. Verstov)
  • Enhancement of installation technology of pre-fabricated transformable buildings ( Associate Professor S.A. Sychev)
  • Improvement of plastering technologies on the basis of use of travelling shuttering and power-driven means for feeding the plaster to the clearance between the wall construction and shuttering ( Associate Professor D.D. Tishkin)
  • Finishing works in reconstruction and new construction from ground up (Associate Professor D.D. Tishkin)
  • New technological construction solutions for environmental facilities, i.e., solid household waste landfills with soil-base waterproofing systems and biogas (methane) collection for its use in the municipal power production (Professor V.V. Verstov)
  • Substantiation of rational organization of urgent construction works in the response to natural and man-induced emergency situations ( Professor A.N. Yegorov)
  • Research and development of efficient construction and technology and organizational solutions in the process of construction of buildings and structures for various purposes ( Professors A.F. Yudina, V.V. Verstov, Associate Professor V.D. Likhachev and others)
  • Development and enhancement of scheduling in construction; technical maintenance and real estate management in the course of operational lifetime ( Associate Professor O.N. Dyachkova)
  • Improvement of construction and organizational solutions in major repair works and reconstruction of real estate facilities (Professor A.F. Yudina)
  • Methods for substantiating parameters of initial construction works (installation of pile foundations and pit fences, including water areas) based on constructability ( Associate Professor A.N. Gaido).
