The summer industrial practice of 3rd-year students (field of study 08.03.01 "Civil engineering") on the territory of the Kizhi Museum-Reserve has been completed.
The students had a busy work schedule: they completed a comprehensive survey of Kornilov's wooden forge in the village of Yamka, measured the structural elements of the wooden building, and documented wood defects in the structural elements, documenting their locations. Based on the results of the survey and documentation, the interns developed a 3D mathematical model of the church, a visualization of which was presented to the museum-reserve's management.
Students were also given the unique opportunity to participate in master classes given by Mikhail Terebov, Head of the Service for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage Sites at the Kizhi Museum-Reserve, and to attend excursions given by Anna Isakova, Leading Methodologist at the Kizhi Museum-Reserve.
"During our internship, we got to know buildings from the 15th, 17th, and 18th centuries. This gave us a chance to touch eternity. This touch made us not only more technically literate, but also spiritually purer," shared student intern Dmitry Poletaev.
