Vlada Kurtinaitis, Edgar Barseghyan and Olga Svetlova
A team from the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering won a first-degree diploma at the II All-Russian TIM Championship, hosted by the Irkutsk State Transport University (IrGUPS) and having concluded on 16 October in Irkutsk.
Eleven teams, comprising university and college students from six cities, took part in the competition. The participants worked on project solutions using information modeling technologies.
SPbGASU was represented by students Vlada Kurtinaitis (fourth-year student in the field of "Information Systems and Technologies"), who competed in the "BIM Coordinator" and "Designer" competencies, and Edgar Barseghyan (fourth-year student in the "Architecture" field) - in the "Architect" competency. The team's mentor was Olga Svetlova, a leading specialist at the SPbGASU Educational Center for Project-Based Learning, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Information and Mathematical Modeling Technologies.
The competition took place over four days. Following the work completed, the teams presented their projects to a panel of judges.
The SPbGASU project received further recognition from the Irkutsk Design and Survey Institute "Irkutskzheldorproekt" (a branch of JSC "Roszheldorproekt"): the team was awarded a diploma for the best project in the "Aesthetics" category.
Championship participants also attended educational intensives and masterclasses designed for students majoring in the IrGUPS highway program.
The results achieved by the SPbGASU team demonstrated the high level of preparation of our students in the field of information modeling, as well as their ability to apply the knowledge they have gained to solve architectural and engineering problems.
