Dmitry Evstifeev, a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Management at Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, has been awarded a Government of the Russian Federation scholarship. His achievements include winning an SPbGASU grant competition for student research projects, publishing work on construction logistics, and placing in a national supply chain management competition.

In 2026, Dmitry graduated from SPbGASU, having studied at the Department of Management in Construction majoring in Logistics in construction. He currently works in logistics—specifically in procurement—while simultaneously pursuing a master's degree at the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building, specializing in Transport Processes Technology.

From the digitalization of procurement to the optimization of delivery

Dmitry’s research interests focus on construction logistics, material flow management, the interaction between construction companies and suppliers, and the digital transformation of procurement processes.

One of the graduate's significant achievements was winning an SPbGASU grant competition for student research projects with the entry "Digital transformation of interaction processes between construction companies and suppliers based on logistics concepts." The study focuses on opportunities to improve interaction among supply chain participants, coordinate material flows, and utilize digital tools to enhance supply efficiency.

Dmitry also published an article titled "Logistics models for interaction between construction organizations and suppliers in the digital economy" in the journal *Construction Economics* (Ekonomika stroitelstva), which is included in the HAK (Higher Attestation Commission) list of peer-reviewed scientific publications. Another of his works—"Application of integrated logistics concepts to material flow management in construction supply"—was published in the collection of research papers *Theory and Practice of Management in Construction*.

Other scientific achievements include presentations at all-Russian scientific and practical conferences. Topics addressed in these presentations included the Russian construction industry's dependence on imports, logistical challenges and ways to overcome them, and the application of integrated logistics concepts to material flow management.

In addition, Dmitry took second place at the II All-Russian Competition in the "Effective Supply Management" skill category (Technical Solution track) and participated in inter-university business games, forums, hackathons, and other professional events.

Science along practice

Today, Dmitry continues to advance his research, drawing on his experience in procurement, supply, and logistics. One promising area of his work is the optimization of road-based construction material delivery. He plans to present a paper on this topic at a scientific conference and further develop the subject in his master's thesis.

The practical significance of the research lies in enhancing the efficiency of logistics processes, ensuring the rational use of transport resources, and reducing costs. For the construction industry, the organization of timely deliveries is of particular importance, as it directly impacts adherence to work schedules and resource utilization.

"For me, this scholarship is, first and foremost, recognition of the work I have done and an incentive to continue developing within the academic community," notes Dmitry.

SPbGASU played a significant role in his professional and academic development. He particularly highlights the support of Professor Natalia Pletneva, DSc in Economics and Head of the Department of Construction Management who assisted him in preparing research papers and conference presentations. Dmitry is also grateful to Artemy Taranov, PhD of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of Construction Economics and Housing & Utility Infrastructure, who, back in Dmitry's first year, drew his attention to professional development opportunities through participation in university events.

In the coming years, Dmitry Evstifeev intends to continue his research in construction logistics, advance ongoing projects, and prepare for admission to a PhD program. He plans to combine academic work with industry employment in order to apply research-based approaches to solving practical problems.

For the SPbGASU graduate, receiving the Government of the Russian Federation scholarship marked a significant milestone in their professional journey and served as additional motivation for further research work.
