Winners of the Third All-Russian Round of the Final Qualifying Works Competition on Automobile and Road Construction Announced. Six Are from SPbGASU.

From 21 to 24 April, the SPbGASU Department of Transport Systems and Road and Bridge Construction (TS&RBC) held the III All-Russian round of the competition of final qualifying works of students in the fields of study 08.03.01, 08.04.01 Civil Engineering, training profiles "Motorways and airfields", "Road bridges and tunnels", in the specialties 08.05.01 Construction of unique buildings and structures, specialization "Construction of highways, airfields and special structures" and 08.05.02 Construction, operation, restoration and technical cover of motorways, bridges and tunnels, specialization "Construction (reconstruction), operation and technical cover of motorways".

A total of 247 final qualifying works participated in the contest, competing in all 20 categories within each of the program tracks. Theses were submitted by 27 universities from 23 cities. The projects were evaluated by experts from SPbGASU and other participating universities.

Of all SPbGASU students in the field of study 08.03.01 Civil engineering (major "Roads"), Polina Baraban (second place) won the competition in the "Design of Transport Structures on Motorways" category. Her final qualifying work topic was "Reconstruction project for the 'Northern bypass of Kaliningrad - Pobedy Avenue' transport interchange." Supervisor: Anna Simonova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Transport Systems and Road and Bridge Construction (TS&RBC).

Students studying in the 08.04.01 Civil engineering program (major "Roads") also won prizes in the competition in the following categories:

  • "Road Design": Mikhail Lebedev (second place), final qualifying work topic: "Study of the impact of heavy multi-wheeled vehicles on road structures." Supervisor: Maria Klekovkina, Associate Professor at the Department of TS&RBC, PhD of Engineering Sciences;

  • "Design of Transport Structures on Highways": Emil Dzhumaev (second place), final qualifying work topic: "Methodological foundations of information modeling of artificial structures on highways." Supervisor: Nikolay Kozak, PhD of Engineering Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of TS&RBC.

  • "Urban Streets and Roads": Aleksey Kornev (second place), final qualifying work topic: "Development of road surface structures in industrial areas of St Petersburg." Supervisor: Maria Klekovkina;

  • "Maintenance, Repair, Major Repairs, and Reconstruction of Urban Streets and Roads": Karina Fedotova (second place), final qualifying work topic: "Improving the design and planning solutions for roundabouts." Supervisor: Anna Simonova;

  • "Artificial Structures in Populated Areas": Aleksandr Martynov (third place), final qualifying work topic: "Studying the effectiveness of automated traffic management systems for improving road safety." Supervisor: Anna Simonova.
