At the end of the academic year, the results of the SPbGASU Preparatory Department for Foreign Applicants were summarized. A certificate presentation ceremony was held in the Academic Council Meeting Hall.
Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Sergey Mikhailov opened the ceremony. In his welcoming speech, he noted the achievements of international students during their year of study in the Preparatory Department and thanked the teachers for their contribution to the students' educational and adaptation processes. The Vice-Rector also noted the increase in the number of students and their countries of origin: in the 2025/2026 year, 77 students from 31 countries successfully completed their studies and passed the exams (last year, those were 44 students from 22 countries).
The students were congratulated by their teachers. Elena Selezneva, Head of the Department of Intercultural Communication, presented certificates to the winners of the Russian Speech Festival for International Students. She commended the students' perseverance, diligence, and creative potential, thanking her colleagues for their collaborative work during the past academic year.
Natalia Tishchenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Intercultural Communication, wished the students "to keep in their hearts the memories of the time spent within the walls of one of the best universities in one of the best cities! And, of course, to speak Russian as much as possible, everywhere and always."
Her colleague, Associate Professor Irina Chechik, shared her memories of joint events held during the academic year and noted that the students successfully coped with the educational process, which was at times quite difficult.
"My heart is filled with pride for every international student," shared Elena Safronova, Professor at the Department of Intercultural Communication. She congratulated the students on completing an important stage in their lives.
Karina Surkova, Head of the Preparatory Department for Foreign Applicants, also congratulated the graduates and colleagues.
Sergey Mikhailov ceremoniously presented certificates of completion of the preparatory course to 77 foreign citizens. A third of the preparatory course graduates will continue their studies at SPbGASU.
