On 26 June, the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering successfully completed a pilot exam combining the state final certification and independent qualification assessment (GIA-NOK) in the Architecture program.

This is a significant event for the higher education system in the field of architectural and construction design: for the first time, a university in the industry has conducted a pilot project combining state final certification and independent qualification assessment for its graduates in this field.

On 18 March, the National Association of Surveyors and Designers (NOPRIZ) and SPbGASU signed an updated cooperation agreement. One of the areas of the agreement was the implementation of pilot projects aimed at combining state final certification with independent qualification assessment. This includes the joint development of assessment materials to determine the level of professional competence of students and graduates. This initiative was supported at the strategic session "Development of the Professional Qualifications System within the Framework of Improving the Higher Education System," held at SPbGASU.

The pilot project involved 28 bachelor program and two master program students in four key fields of study:

  • 07.03.01. "Architecture";

  • 07.03.02. "Reconstruction and restoration of architectural heritage";

  • 07.03.03. "Architectural environment design";

  • 07.03.04. "Urban planning".

The procedure took place at the accredited examination center of St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, equipped in accordance with the requirements of qualification assessment centers. The qualification exam, as required by the procedure, consisted of theoretical and practical sections, assessing not only the knowledge but also the professional skills of future specialists.

Following the tests, the participants successfully confirmed their qualifications at either Level 5 or Level 6, demonstrating a high level of training that meets professional standards.

Successful completion of the exam provides graduates with advantages in employment and entry into the National Register of Specialists in the field of engineering surveys and architectural and construction design.

SPbGASU plans to continue developing this practice, expanding the number of participants in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation to improve the higher education system.
