On 23–24 September, the II International Conference "Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics in High-Rise and Underground Construction"—held to mark the 90th anniversary of Z. G. Ter-Martirosyan’s birth—took place at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (NRU MGSU). The conference focused on key topics such as principles for determining soil properties; computational and experimental methods and IT in geotechnical construction; soil improvement technologies; and the reconstruction of foundations and underground structures, among others.
Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering was represented at the event by teachers from the Department of Geotechnics: Rashid Mangushev—Honored Scientist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (RAACS), DSc in Engineering, Professor—and Anatoly Osokin—Honored Builder of Russia, DSc in Engineering, Associate Professor, Head of the Department. Rashid Abdullovich delivered a presentation at the plenary session titled "The Impact of Construction-Related Technological Factors on Additional Settlement of Buildings and Structures."
In addition, the conference’s sectional sessions featured research by young scientists and teachers from the department: "Development and experimental validation of a mathematical model for the deformation of weak, water-saturated silty-clay soils" (Assistant at the department Daria Paskacheva, Rashid Mangushev) and "Numerical implementation of a model for thawing permafrost" (PhD student Denis Korablev, Professor Andrey Ponomarev).
We thank our colleagues from NRU MGSU for organizing the event and for the productive scientific dialogue!
