In March this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping confirmed the strategic partnership between the two countries. In the near future, they will approve the Russian-Chinese "Plan-2030", where great importance is given to cooperation in the field of vocational education, science and culture.  

Faculty of Architecture at the Henan Urban Planning University

SPbGASU pays significant attention to scientific and educational projects with the universities of the People's Republic of China

On 27–31 March, a delegation from SPbGASU headed by First Vice-Rector Svetlana Golovina visited Henan Urban Planning University (HUPU, Pingdingshan). The delegation included Vice-Rector for Academic Work Sergey Mikhailov, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services Inna Sukhanova and Head of the Department of Water Use and Ecology Svyatoslav Fedorov.

HUPU is the only university in the field of civil engineering and urban development in Henan Province and one of two universities in China providing training in urban planning.

Friendly relations between universities have been developing since 2014. The cooperation agreement provides for a wide range of areas, including the implementation of joint educational programs, academic exchange, scientific and technical developments, holding scientific and practical conferences, expert sessions, development of laboratory facilities, publishing activities and much more.

The bachelor's program "Water supply and sanitation" is successfully implemented. The recognition of the authority of the specialists of the SPbGASU Department of Water Use and Ecology was the awarding of diplomas of the HUPU visiting professors for the period until April 2025 to Svyatoslav Fedorov, Vladimir Verkhoturov and Yury Stolbikhin.

During the visit, negotiations were held on the development of a new joint educational program in the field of energy supply of buildings. The program can start as early as 2024. In addition, agreements have been signed on the creation of two joint international laboratories: in the field of environmental engineering and energy supply technology (at the Faculty of Energy and Environmental Engineering of the HUPU and at the SPbGASU Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services), as well as in the field of urban planning and architectural design (at the Faculty of Architectural Design of HUPU and the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture).

The development of a new basic educational program and the creation of international laboratories will serve to increase the level of academic mobility of students and university teachers, the mutual dissemination of innovative experience in the training of engineering personnel, and the growth of the effectiveness of scientific research in the interests of the economy of both countries.

During meetings with the managers of Henan Urban Planning University, issues of organizing advanced training for teachers of HUPU at SPbGASU, as well as the possibility of expanding the language training of students, studying Chinese and Russian languages for further scientific, educational and cultural rapprochement were discussed.
