On 18 September, representatives from the architectural branding firm Genpro presented a collector’s edition of *The Art of the Architectural Model*—produced in collaboration with TATLIN Publishers—as a gift to the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU). The book was delivered to the SPbGASU Scientific and Technical Library by Genpro Creative Director Oleg Bogdan, Deputy Head of Architectural Concepts Aleksey Tverdov, and Development Director Ksenia Yuryeva. The guests were welcomed by Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Sergey Mikhailov* and Head of the Scientific and Technical Library Elena Romanova.
This publication synthesizes the company’s expertise in architectural design and place branding. It showcases models of landmark architectural projects, including works by Russian architectural firms. The creators intended for the book to illustrate the evolution of the architectural model from a mere design tool into a standalone medium for presenting an architectural concept.
"We wanted to present the university with something that holds great value for our company. It is an exclusive book developed by our founder, Emil Petrichenko. Last year, he organized an exhibition in Moscow showcasing models from leading architectural firms. The exhibition was a great success, and this book was compiled based on that showcase. It features a great many works by our colleagues. We published this book with immense love," said Ksenia Yuryeva.
For SPbGASU, this publication is of interest as supplementary visual material for architecture students. Architectural modeling is a mandatory subject in the training of future architects: working with a physical model helps students visualize the spatial solution, scale, and specific features of the object being designed.
Sergey Mikhailov highlighted the publication's practical value for the educational process: "It will serve as an excellent resource. There are relatively few textbooks on architectural modeling available, so such a visually illustrative guide will be highly useful and, I am certain, in high demand."
The book will be added to the collection of the SPbGASU Scientific and Technical Library, where it will be available to the university's staff and students.
A tour of the library was conducted for the guests. They were introduced to unique publications from the collection of the SPbGASU Scientific and Technical Library and learned about the history of the development of the Russian school of civil engineering—a tradition that continues at our university.
The meeting of SPbGASU representatives and Genpro concluded with discussing opportunities for further cooperation.
