Happy birthday, Saint Petersburg!
On 27 May, Saint Petersburg celebrates the 323rd anniversary of its founding. The northern capital—a city of great architecture, engineering, scientific discoveries, and cultural heritage—has inspired generations of creators for over three centuries.
This holiday has special significance for the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The history of SPbGASU is inextricably linked with the history of the city on the Neva. For nearly two centuries, the university has contributed to the formation of Saint Petersburg's architectural image, the development of the construction industry, transportation infrastructure, and the urban environment.
Today, SPbGASU graduates and teachers contribute to the preservation of St Petersburg's historical heritage, the design of modern public spaces, the development of construction technologies, and the creation of a comfortable urban environment. Many of the city's landmark projects are being implemented with the participation of specialists who graduated from SPbGASU.
"Peter and Paul Fortress" is a painted mural created for the interior of the Vitebsk Railway Station in St Petersburg. The station's interiors were designed by civil engineer Sima Minash, a graduate of the Emperor Nicholas I Institute of Civil Engineers (now SPbGASU).
St Petersburg remains a unique example of the harmony of architecture, engineering, and culture. Its streets, embankments, and squares serve as a living textbook for future architects, builders, restorers, and engineers. It is here that ideas are born that will shape the cities of the future.
We congratulate everyone who shares St Petersburg's anniversary on its birthday! We love it for its austerity and romance, for its drawbridges, quiet squares, and for the opportunity to influence its future every day. We wish the city on the Neva continued development, prosperity, the preservation of its unique historical heritage, and the implementation of new large-scale projects.
Happy birthday, our beloved and most beautiful city – Saint Petersburg!
