On 18 December, participants of the student social and legal project "InfoShield" held a meeting titled "How to protect yourself online" at the SPbGASU space "Growth Point". The meeting focused on cyberbullying, a serious problem in the modern digital environment.

The meeting was opened by the "InfoShield" project manager and Jurisprudence student Daria Meleshina, who described the project's goals and the format of the event. Oksana Karnaukhova, Deputy Dean for Educational Work at the Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport, Associate Professor, and PhD of Juridical Sciences, then delivered a lecture titled "Cyberbullying: nature, consequences, and responsibility."

The speaker explained in detail what cyberbullying was, its various forms, and why online bullying was particularly dangerous. She noted that, unlike offline conflicts, cyberbullying was systemic, could occur around the clock, and the dissemination of offensive material online occured instantly and often anonymously.

The expert focused on the legal aspects of the issue, explaining to students administrative and criminal liability for insults, slander, threats, violation of privacy, and the illegal use of a citizen's image. Oksana Karnaukhova emphasized that even "jokes," reposts, and likes could have legal consequences, and the victim's perception of the situation played a key role in determining the classification of the offense.

The practical part of the event included a mock trial. Participants received a case description and were assigned the roles of prosecutor, defense attorney, expert, and defendant. In this mock trial format, the students analyzed evidence, constructed arguments, and gained firsthand insight into how the judicial system operated and how complex protection of digital rights was.

In addition, all attendees could take an interactive digital literacy test using a Telegram bot, which allowed them to reinforce their acquired knowledge.

The SPbGASU student project "InfoShield" is being implemented with the support of the Rosmolodezh Grants program. Its goal is to improve students' digital and legal literacy and foster responsible and informed behavior in the digital environment.
