Valeria Pyatova, Kseniya Tretyakova, Galina Ryleva, and Viktoria Smirnova
Fourth-year students from the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building at the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering took part in the International Transport Project Competition 2026. The university was represented by Ksenia Tretyakova, Galina Ryleva, Valeria Pyatova, and Viktoria Smirnova—all students in the "Transport Processes Technology" field of study. They were among the prize winners following the final stage of the competition.
The competition finals took place from 28 to 30 October at the Russian University of Transport (RUT MIIT) in Moscow. Over the course of three days, 29 teams from various countries presented their developments, aimed at addressing pressing challenges within the transport sector. The participants were tasked with refining their project solutions, collaborating with industry experts and moderators, building prototypes, and defending their works.
This season, the competition brought together around 3,000 students from more than 100 universities across 11 countries. The qualifying stage proved highly competitive: 304 teams from 50 universities completed their projects, with the strongest participants advancing to the in-person final.
One of the competition categories was "Plastics in the fishing fleet," with a challenge developed by SIBUR PolyLab LLC. Teams were tasked with devising solutions involving the use of polymeric materials in the fishing fleet, while accounting for requirements such as reliability, operational performance, and the ease of using equipment in demanding conditions. Participating in the competition allowed the students to apply their knowledge in practice, work on a real-world industry challenge, and present their own project solution on an international stage.
For SPbGASU students, participating in international transport project competition served as a significant professional experience—an opportunity to demonstrate teamwork, engineering mindset, and project-related competencies, as well as to receive feedback from representatives of leading industry organizations.
Congratulations on your prize-winning result, and we wish you further achievements!
