On 4–5 April, SPbGASU students took part in the annual Volga_CTF International Information Security Competition, one of the most prestigious events in this field in Russia and abroad.

Volga_CTF is held in the Capture the Flag format: participants solve problems in real time, covering vulnerability detection, cryptanalysis, reverse engineering, and web security. This year, the competition attracted 518 teams from 47 countries, including top teams from the US, UK, Germany, France, China, and Kazakhstan.

SPbGASU was represented by the "Ctr+alt+delete" team, comprised of participants from our university's student project Code.ak (an educational platform for information technology students). The team included second-year students from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services (EE&MS), Department of Information and Mathematical Modeling Technologies, Anastasia Ryazanova, Maksim Suvalko, and Vladimir Bulykin.

The team's mentor was Andrey Kornyushin, the head of the Code.ak project and a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services. He supported the participants through all stages of preparation and during the competition.

Following a tense 24-hour competition, SPbGASU students scored 890 points and took 57th place overall among 518 teams from 47 countries – an excellent result for international debutants!

The Code.ak project continues to recruit students passionate about programming and information security. If you want to improve your skills, work on real-life problems, and represent the university on the international stage, join us!
