Students from the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering took part in the V Moscow Student DATA Hackathon, organized by Moscow City Pedagogical University (MCPU). The organizers received over 30 applications, and 20 teams from 19 universities were selected for the final round. The in-person final took place on 17–18 April at MCPU.
The hackathon's geography was quite broad: participants included representatives from the Altai Krai, Vladimir, Kazan, Minsk, Moscow, and St Petersburg. Leading IT companies, including Loginom, ArenaDATA, Rostelecom, and DataFabrika, served as partners.
In the final round, participants had to solve a practice-oriented problem posed by the general partners, involving the analysis of large amounts of real-life data. The task involved collecting information from open sources, sorting it, conducting a comprehensive analysis, and visualizing the results. This format allowed students to get as close as possible to real-life business challenges and apply their knowledge of data analysis, artificial intelligence, and programming.
SPbGASU was represented by the "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" team, formed as part of the Code.ak student educational project. The team included students from the Department of Information and Mathematical Modeling Technologies (IMMT): Vladimir Bulykin (second year), Anastasia Ryazanova (second year), and Kirill Astashov (first year). The team's supervisor was Timofey Razboynikov, Assistant at the Department of IMMT.
Our students were assigned a case study from Loginom, dedicated to analyzing the performance of Russian universities. The assignment was based on data from educational institution monitoring since 2015, as well as the 2026 ranking of the top 100 Russian universities. During the course of their work, the team identified key parameters influencing universities' inclusion in the rankings and proposed recommendations for improving their positions. Participation in the DATA Hackathon provided students with valuable experience in teamwork and solving practical problems in the field of data analysis. We congratulate the participants on their successful performance and wish them continued success!
