Members of the Dune Squad
From January to March, students from the SPbGASU Faculty of Civil Engineering participated in international internships at the construction site of Egypt's first nuclear power plant, El Dabaa, which is being built by Russian specialists.
The students worked as members of the international student construction squad "Dune". This is a project of Russian Students Squads, the Rosatom State Corporation, and JSC CONCERN TITAN-2. Thirty students from various regions of Russia participated. St Petersburg was represented by members of the International Joint Student Construction Squad (IJSCS) "Wheel of Fortune," which included students from SPbGASU.
Participants in the project from our university were fourth-year student Andrey Repin - commander of the IJSCS "Wheel of Fortune" and head of the ISCS "Dune" project, third-year student Elena Ozerova - commissar of the "Wheel of Fortune" squad, and a graduate 2025 of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Daniil Terentyev.
The interns performed a wide range of tasks. Elena Ozerova, for example, interned in the Work Safety Directorate, where she maintained occupational safety documentation, analyzed industrial discipline, and participated in the preparation of safety materials. Particular attention is paid to compliance with regulations, discipline, and a safe work culture during construction: this provides students with an opportunity not only to apply their acquired knowledge in practice but also to become familiar with working conditions at a major infrastructure facility.
In addition to production activities, the squad members held sports and leisure activities. Meetings were held with the management of contractor companies.
Project participants note that their internship at the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant construction provided them with unique professional experience, helped them broaden their understanding of modern construction technologies and international standards, and developed important competencies for their future careers.
