Marina Malyutina and Aleksandr Gromov
The Interregional Office of DOSAAF (Russian Army, Air Force and Navy Volunteer Society) of Russia for St Petersburg and the Leningrad Region presented projects for the development of the organization's airfield areas, prepared by students of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The university delegation was led by Marina Malyutina, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy, and Aleksey Perov, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architectural Environmental Design.
The concepts were presented to the Chairman of DOSAAF of Russia, Aleksandr Gromov, the management team of the organization's interregional office, and aviation specialists. The projects were developed by students from the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture, who personally presented their designs and answered questions from meeting participants.
Students worked on development concepts for the Gorelovo, Gorskaya, and Sivoritsy airfields. The work was conducted outside of class time and included studying the area's infrastructure, taking photographs, analyzing existing developments, and formulating architectural planning solutions.
Aleksey Perov noted that the project provided students with valuable hands-on experience working with real-world sites and clients: "We visited all the sites with the students, walked through the grounds, took numerous photographs, and got to know the objects firsthand. Despite the very tight deadline, the students displayed self-sufficiency and took a serious approach to studying the regulatory framework and developing their concepts."
The concept for the Gorelovo airfield was presented by fourth-year students majoring in Architectural Environment Design, Karina Musina, Anna Krivenkova and Daria Gorozhankina.
The Gorskaya airfield development concept was prepared by Evelina Kutlinskaya, Ludwig Syanozhensky, Asya Khlopova and Ekaterina Romodina (also fourth-year students in this program).
The concept for the Sivoritsy airfield was developed by second-year student of the Architecture program, Vsevolod Zavyalov.
Representatives of DOSAAF of Russia highly praised the students' work and emphasized the importance of youth participation in the development of modern infrastructure solutions.
Aleksandr Gromov thanked the students: "You've done amazing work, which we desperately need. Your young, creative, modern perspective allows us to see new opportunities for developing our sites."
All project team members received certificates and letters of appreciation. A certificate of gratitude was also awarded to Aleksey Perov for his supervision, mentoring, and organizing the students' project work.
DOSAAF representatives invited our students to the organization's airfields, where they could explore the aviation infrastructure and use gift certificates to experience skydiving, gliding, or a pilot-led flight.
During the meeting, Marina Malyutina noted the potential for interdisciplinary project collaboration between the university and DOSAAF of Russia. According to her, students from various SPbGASU faculties—the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building, the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal services, and the Faculty of Economics—could participate in such projects.
"Project-based learning brings together students with diverse competencies. This allows them not only to develop concepts but also to perform engineering calculations, modeling, economic evaluation, and full-scale project development," emphasized the Vice-Rector for Youth Policy.
The parties agreed on further cooperation, particularly in the development of unmanned technologies, sports, tourism, and military-patriotic education. Furthermore, DOSAAF representatives expressed interest in continuing their collaboration with SPbGASU students and proposed organizing a new competition to develop a concept for a motorsport track.
