Competition participants
The Saint Petersburg Academy of the Investigative Committee concluded the first stage of the large-scale intellectual project "Criminology Games 2026". The event was timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the academy's founding. The team from the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering was among the competition's winners.
Twelve teams participated in the intellectual competition, including our university, representing the St Petersburg Law Institute (branch) of the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation, the St Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the St Petersburg University of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, the North-West Branch of the V.M. Lebedev Russian State University of Justice, and other universities in the Northern Capital.
During the game, participants had to solve problems dedicated to the works of representatives of the Neva-Volga School of Criminology, as well as answer theoretical questions, which required not only erudition but also strategic thinking.
The jury included legal experts: Professor, Doctor of Laws Larisa Gotchina (St Petersburg Law Institute of the UPO RF), Associate Professor, PhD of Juridical Sciences Elena Markova (Department of Legal Regulation of Urban-Planning Activities and Transport, Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport, SPbGASU), Senior Lecturer, PhD of Juridical Sciences David Gamidov (University of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia) and Associate Professor, PhD of Juridical Sciences Viktoria Semenova (St Petersburg Academy of the Investigative Committee).

Following the first stage of the games, the placings were as follows: first place went to the teams from the St Petersburg Academy of the Investigative Committee and the St Petersburg Law Institute (branch) of the University of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation; second place went to the team from the North-West Branch of the V.M. Lebedev Russian State University of Justice; and third place was shared between the teams from SPbGASU and the St Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
Our team included third-year students in the majoring in Jurisprudence: Anastasia Abramova, Alina Bashirova, Anastasia Kochukova and Elena Samoilova. Supervisor: Elena Markova.
The jury noted the teams' high level of preparation. A continuation of the 2026 Criminology Games is planned for the fall semester.
