Participants in the joint FQWs defense
The defense of joint diploma TIM-projects, an innovative format for final qualifying works by this year's graduates, has concluded at SPbGASU.
The joint diploma projects are created by teams of students from various fields of study within the educational project "Innovative Methodology for Developing Digital Professional Competencies of Students and Specialists in the Construction Industry", which has been implemented at the university since 2022 by the SPbGASU Educational Center for Project-Based Learning and Educational Center for Digital Competence.
The result of the teamwork is digital information models of capital construction projects, reflecting various sections of the design documentation. The project integrates architectural design, utility systems, and building structures; participants manage the organization of construction work, prepare a construction estimate, and forecast future revenues from the facility's operation. The key link is the TIM coordinator, who organizes the participants' collaborative work, integrating all sections and ensuring their integration; oversees the consistency and accuracy of new data entry by participants; and creates the final version of the consolidated digital model. Each team member defends their section before a unified examination committee.
Students from the non-graduating years assisted the graduates in their projects, gaining project experience. (Full lists of teams participating in the project)
In the 2025–2026 academic year, seven joint TIM projects were completed.
SPbGASU Educational and Sports Building Project: graduates of the Faculty of Civil Engineering (CE) Ekaterina Muzyka (metal structures), Zarina Imangulova (reinforced concrete structures), and the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services (EEMS) Maksim Manykaev (ventilation), Aleksandra Vitsina (heating). The project's curator is Aleksandra Masyonene, senior lecturer at the Department of Information and Mathematical Modeling Technologies (IMMT).
The project for the second phase of the Far Eastern Federal University campus on Russky Island (Vladivostok) was developed for participation in the all-Russian competition organized by the Unified Customer in Construction with the support and on behalf of the Russian Ministry of Construction. The SPbGASU project was among the winners. Team members: graduates of the Faculty of CE Ulyana Guseva (metal structures), Adeliya Yakupova (reinforced concrete structures), Igor Migilev (geotechnical part of the project), Kamalya Nazruloeva (construction organization) and graduates of Faculty of EEMS Nikita Ufimtsev (ventilation), Ksenia Shvetsova (development of thermomechanical solutions), Ilsur Kamaletdinov (water supply and sanitation). Curator – Aleksandra Masyonene.
At the request of SPbGASU partners Ridan Trade LLC and CSoft Development JSC, a project was presented for forming an information model at a construction site (boiler house): graduates of the Faculty of EEMS Stepan Egorov and Yana Klyueva (TIM coordination). The project curator is Acting Head of the Department of IMMT, PhD of Engineering Sciences Alena Vedernikova.
The SPbGASU partner OOO Gazprom Proektirovanie tasked students with developing a design for a production and energy block with a service block: graduates of the Faculty of CE Aleksandra Pavletsova (metal structures) and Fuad Melikov (construction organization), graduate of the Faculty of EEMS Daria Skryabinya (TIM coordination). Project curator: Alena Vedernikova.
Two projects were developed on behalf of the industrial partner of SPbGASU, Metropolis:
-
Multifunctional sports complex with an ice rink: graduates of the Faculty of CE Denis Bogdanchikov (metal structures), Ali Pliev, Rodion Egarmin, Artem Kholuev (all – reinforced concrete structures), Regina Kirichenko (construction organization project), graduates of the Faculty of EEMS Ksenia Brusnitsyna (ventilation), Vladislav Belinsky (heating), Viktoria Kozlova (water supply and sanitation), Grigory Vorozhtsov (TIM coordination) and graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) Andrey Orlov (economic part of the project). Curator – Associate Professor, Acting Head of the Department of Heat and Gas Supply and Ventilation Kirill Sukhanov
-
Modern Art Museum Project: graduates of the Faculty of CE Alesya Tsai, Valeria Barashkova (both responsible for reinforced concrete structures), Ksenia Lipakova (construction management project), graduates of the Faculty of EEMS Nikita Prokopenko (ventilation), Anastasia Osintseva (heating), Emin Gadzhiev (water supply and sanitation), and Anna Kedrova (TIM coordination). Curator – Assistant Professor at the Department of Construction Economics and Housing and Utility Infrastructure Nikita Orlov
At the request of the SPbGASU partner – the company SETL GROUP, a project for a high-rise residential building in St Petersburg was prepared. The authors of the project are graduates of the Faculty of CE Vladislav Gaidash, Eva Podyacheva (both developed reinforced concrete structures), Daria Korneeva, Ekaterina Efimova (construction organization project), graduates of the Faculty of EEMS Daria Golovanova (ventilation), Vladimir Belov (heating), Dmitry Lvov (TIM coordination) and a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Management Matvey Abramov (project economics). The curator of the project is a senior lecturer at the Department of Information and Mathematical Modeling Technologies Vitaly Sharanin. The students proposed an architectural and structural solution for a high-rise residential complex, taking into account the developer's requirements. Digital modeling allowed for precise design of all construction stages and ensured the project's quality.
Sergey Bryuzgin, Head of the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Department at Metropolis company, traditionally served on the State Examination Committee (SEC) and praised the excellent teamwork of SPbGASU graduates: "This is my third time serving on such a committee, and from the first time, it was clear that this format is highly sought after by us as employers, as it teaches students to work together. A successful project is one in which the team can work together seamlessly. In our case, a potential employee's experience in such a complex, interdisciplinary project will be an advantage during hiring. This significantly saves employers time and training costs for young professionals."
Sergey Bryuzgin
According to Sergey Bryuzgin, the current academic year was distinct from previous ones in that work on the joint project spanned two semesters, providing ample time for professional consultations, master classes, answering questions, and receiving project recommendations. "This is what working with a client is all about: the students gained experience interacting with people outside the university. Would I be willing to hire any of them? I'd hire them all! Overall, all their ideas could be developed into a full-fledged project; there's nothing there that couldn't be done in real life."
All graduates completed their project tasks using modern digital technologies and defended their theses with excellent marks.
Summing up the results, the Chairman of the State Examination Committee, Aleksandr Lapygin, General Director of RUSEKO-STROYPROEKT LLC, congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and defending their theses with flying colors. He wished them a successful professional career: "We are confident that the effort you invested in your studies at the university and this experience of working together will be very useful to you, and we hope that you will apply the knowledge you have gained to doing something useful for yourselves, for the companies where you will work, for the cities you will design, to make our world a better place."
