Anna Leonovich, a fifth-year student at the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture, opened an exhibition of her works “Sensing Space”. This is not the first personal exhibition for Anna - she previously exhibited her works in the Duma of the Stavropol Territory, the state health resort in Pyatigorsk. Today, in this way, the student sums up her activities and creativity over the years of study at the university.

SPbGASU Vice-Rector for Educational Activity Sergey Mikhailov called this event at the university historical, since for the first time the author of such a large-scale and multifaceted personal exhibition was a student.

— The event is significant both for its author and for the faculty teachers who help the children develop. For students, the exhibition is interesting for the works presented and serves as a clear confirmation for them that the university is always ready to promote its students and provide them with opportunities to reveal their full potential,” noted Sergey Mikhailov.

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Ekaterina Vozniak added that the teaching staff is interested in training and graduating highly qualified specialists, therefore it considers and promotes the initiatives of the children. Anna's exhibition confirms the effectiveness of this approach.

At the exhibition, Anna Leonovich presented works, including digital graphics. The author admits that their stories are dictated by both personal experiences and the perception of what is happening in the country, and therefore are perceived better without verbal accompaniment: what you see needs to be felt rather than heard about. Visitors can get acquainted with the models and architectural works that Anna performed during her studies at SPbGASU and under the international student exchange program at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. A separate section of the exhibition is fine art.

— The works were done in different techniques: gouache, pastel, watercolor, mixed technique, collage. Also presented are plaster works, graphic works made in charcoal, pencil, and op art (a style and movement in fine art based on the use of abstract optical illusions). During my years of study in Madrid, I saw how local students use fine art techniques in architectural modeling. This knowledge became a powerful impetus for my further creative development. But overall, I wanted to show how I grew over the years of studying at my native university, which provided me with all the conditions for professional and creative growth,” concluded Anna.

The exhibition runs in the exhibition hall of the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture until 19 February.
