On 29 May, SPbGASU has opened the exhibition “The path to victory: the work of architects during the Great Patriotic War”.

"For three seasons now, our students have been preparing historical materials in the social network for the community of the St Petersburg Union of Architects about members of this creative public association, who were also graduates or teachers of our university. This year, which is the anniversary year of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, we decided to focus on this topic - the fates of architects and our LISI during the war. The volume and quality of the materials, due to the interest and involvement of the students who worked on this task, made it possible to arrange the collected materials in this exhibition," said Oleg Fedorov, Deputy Dean for career guidance counceling, Associate Professor at the Department of Architectural Design.

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Ekaterina Vozniak spoke about the trials that befell architects of the war and post-war years. The dean thanked the organizers of the exhibition: Oleg Fedorov, Deputy Dean for discipline, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architectural Design Daria Boytsova, students Vera Vykhodets, Arina Tintunen, Natalia Grigorieva, Yulia Moiseyeva, as well as Alena Perfilova and Sofia Kravets.

Associate Professor at the Department of Architectural Design, member of the Presidium of the St Petersburg Union of Architects Vladlen Lyavdansky is sure that students are doing an important job, maintaining the connection of times.

The head of the exhibition activities council of the St Petersburg Union of Architects, Associate Professor at the Department of Architectural and Urban-Planning Heritage Ilya Yusupov promised to present the exhibition at the House of Architects and at the International Nevsky Forum.

Daria Boytsova urged students to think about the fact that the unity of the architectural community and the entire society as a whole helped to restore the city after the war in a short time.

The exhibition consists of three thematic blocks: about LISI during the war years, about architects during the war years, and about architectural monuments – Victory monuments.

Vera Vyhodets spoke about how the exhibition was created: "We approached the work diligently, selected the high-quality material. Everyone knows about the feat of those who fought at the front, about how people lived in the city. We tried to reveal the topic from our professional, architectural side. To show what contribution architects made to the Victory. We learned a lot of new things for ourselves. It was useful for us and, I am sure, will be useful for visitors."

The opening was attended by the executive director of the information and analytical bulletin of the Union of Architects of St Petersburg and the Association of SRO "Guild of Architects and Engineers of St Petersburg" "Architectural Petersburg" Natalia Nikitina. She presented a batch of "Architectural Petersburg", the latest issue of which is also dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, as a gift to the guests of the exhibition.

The exhibition will be open in the lobby of the Department of Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Graphics until 20 June.
