SPbGASU Starts An Exhibition Dedicated To The Department Of Geotechnics Sientific School

On 28 October, as part of the scientific and technical conference "Modern Methods for the Design, Underground Construction, and Reconstruction of Foundations and Substructures," an exhibition titled "The Department of Geotechnics Scientific School" opened at the SPbGASU Scientific and Technical Library. The exhibition is dedicated to the history of Russian geotechnical science and the scholarly and methodological works produced by the department's faculty and staff.

The exhibition features over 400 works, tracing the development of geotechnical science from the contributions of its pioneers to contemporary research. Among the publications on display is the book *Piles and pile foundations. Structures, design, and technologies*, co-authored by R. A. Mangushev, V. V. Znamensky, A. L. Gotman, and A. B. Ponomarev. Introducing the volume, Rashid Mangushev, DSc in Engineering, Director of the Scientific and Production and Consulting Center for Geotechnologies, Professor at the SPbGASU Department of Geotechnics, noted that the book provides everything necessary for performing calculations, including practical examples, detailed recommendations, and modern methods for designing pile foundations, as well as the most current approaches in the field. The collection also includes rare editions, some of which bear the authors' autographs.

During the tour, Rashid Abdullovich expressed his gratitude to the Head of the Scientific and Technical Library, Elena Romanova, and the Deputy Head, Galina Mashevskaya, for preserving and organizing the scientific legacy. He emphasized that geotechnics is, first and foremost, a science concerned with safety: an understanding of soil properties is of fundamental importance for the reliability of buildings and structures.

The exhibition will run at the SPbGASU Scientific and Technical Library for three days, from 28 to 30 October. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the works of scholars and trace the development of a scientific school that has made a significant contribution to the field of geotechnical engineering in Russia.
