Participants in the ceremony
A ceremony commemorating Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War took place on the balustrade of the main building of the Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
The event was attended by veterans, teachers, university staff, and students. A theatrical performance prepared by members of the "Kirpich" Student Creativity Club (SCC) added a festive atmosphere to the event. The group performed and told a touching story based on letters from the front—a dialogue filled with hope, warmth, and the pain of separation. Through artistic imagery, the performers recalled how, during the war, the simple words "we are fine" became a symbol of support and faith in life.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Sergey Mikhailov addressed the audience with a welcoming address. In his speech, he emphasized the special significance of Victory Day as a symbol of the nation's courage and unity, noting the contribution of the teachers, students, and staff of the Leningrad Civil Engineering Institute during the war. He recalled that more than 950 members of the Institute went to the front, worked in hospitals, and participated in the defense of Leningrad, while over 220 people died during the war and the siege.

"Today our task is to preserve the historical truth and pass on the memory of the people's heroism to the younger generation," the Vice-Rector noted, addressing students and colleagues.
During the event, the price of Victory was commemorated: the Great Patriotic War claimed the lives of more than 26 million people. A moment of silence was observed in memory of the fallen.
The ceremony concluded with the laying of flowers at the memorial plaques on the SPbGASU balustrade and a group photo opportunity.
