The Association of Construction Universities (ACU) has announced the results of its annual competition for theses defended in 2025. The competition brings together the best projects and research from graduates of specialized universities across Russia, and its results serve as confirmation of the high level of training of young professionals. Graduates from the SPbGASU Faculty of Civil Engineering won six prizes: four first places, one second place, and one third place.
The winners of the competition are:
- In the category "Geotechnics. Bachelor's degree. Project": Ilya Kulyashov (scientific supervisor - Associate Professor at the Department of Geotechnics, PhD of Engineering Sciences Vyacheslav Polunin);
- In the category "Geotechnics. Master's degree. Research work": Anastasia Myasnikova (scientific supervisor - Associate Professor at the Department of Geotechnics, PhD of Engineering Sciences Andrey Boyarintsev);
- In the category "Industrial and civil engineering. Master's degree. Research work": Ivan Kudryavtsev (scientific supervisor - Professor at the Department of Metal and Timber Constructions, DSc in Engineering Aleksandr Chernykh);
- In the category "Construction technology and management. Master's degree. Project": Ksenia Karen (scientific supervisor - Associate Professor at the Department of Construction Management, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering for career guidance counceling Sergey Bovteev);
- Second place in the category "Construction technology and management. Bachelor's Degree. Diploma": Andrey Naumov (scientific supervisor - Senior Lecturer at the Department of Construction Management and Deputy Dean for Educational Work at the Faculty of Civil Engineering Anna Tsarenko).
A student presented a project for the construction of a 15-story hotel. In his paper, the author analyzed various design solutions and selected the optimal one, which would reduce construction time while meeting quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness requirements.
The project was developed entirely using domestic software such as NanoCAD, Lira CAD, Sapphire 3D, Plan R, 7D Modeler, and others. The result was a 4D model of the construction process, combining 3D design with the time dimension. This method allowed not only to visualize the structure in space but also to track its development throughout all stages of the life cycle—from conception to operation.
- Third place in the nomination "Construction technology and management. Master's degree. Research work": Elizaveta Khrapilina (scientific supervisor - Head of the Department of Construction Technology, DSc in Engineering Anton Gaido).
The competition committee highly praised her final qualifying work, “Technological schemes for moving buildings and structures.”
In her research, Elizaveta analyzed existing technologies for moving buildings and structures—from traditional methods using rollers and rails to modern solutions using hydraulic walking propellers. Based on a technical and economic analysis, practical recommendations were developed for selecting optimal process schemes, taking into account the building type, engineering and geological conditions, and construction site characteristics.
Congratulations to the graduates of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and their supervisors on their well-deserved awards! The awards ceremony for the competition's winners and runners-up will take place in October.
