Competition participants at the awards ceremony
Setl Group held a competition to develop small architectural forms among students studying Landscape Architecture at St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Participants designed a structure for the "City of Stars" residential complex, currently under construction in Novosaratovka, near St Petersburg.
The competition kicked off on 23 April. Five student teams participated. Four teams advanced to the final presentation of their projects, which took place at the holding's office on Ushakovskaya Embankment. The challenge was to design an art object that would create a unique image for the welcome area of the Avenue of Stars and enhance the identity of the entire residential block. The object had to combine artistic expression, functionality, and integration with the proposed surrounding development.
Team #1 won the competition. Their small architectural form was based on the imagery of the moon and stars. The winning team included Daria Bedenko, Ekaterina Chepur, Ksenia Fedosova, Anna Vasyanovich, and Adriana Smolenskaya. They played on the image of the "City of Stars" residential complex in their work and developed not only an original but also a functional solution. The young specialists created a striking example of an art object, a focal point equipped with seating areas and dramatic lighting. Their design, with detailed refinements, will form the basis for a real art object in the residential complex.
The Winners' Project"We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and thoroughness of the brief presented by all the participants," noted Vera Malakhova, Head of Project Quality Development at Setl Group. "Despite their youth, the students set a high standard, admirably navigating the process from concept to strict compliance with the technical specifications. I can say there was intense competition among the teams, with each jury member having their own winning projects. All the students did a great job. Their works are distinguished by a high level of presentation and can compete with professional designers."
Students who took first, second, and third place received prizes from the Setl Group holding company, and all participants received commemorative diplomas.
