Billiards

Billiards is the collective name of several board games with different rules. The meaning of the game is to “drive” a certain number of balls into pockets with certain conditions: for example, the ability to hit only one ball or several, pocketing only certain balls or playing on the score, where the goal is to pocket more balls, than the opponent.

There are many nuances in this game that make it difficult to master, but exciting in the process of playing, forcing you to show prudence, tactical thinking, eye and psychological understanding of the opponent. With a high level of skill and luck, the probability of victory is high before the opponent enters the game.

Today there are many championships. Players can compete with each other in different types of billiards - Russian, English, French. The most common are Russian billiards and American pool.

2019/2020:
  • 4th place in the team interuniversity competition in billiards "Pool-8" (Georgy Krepkin, Nurbek Yulbarsov, Harem Al-Talabani);
  • 4th place in the team interuniversity competitions in billiards "Pyramid" (Georgy Krepkin, Nurbek Yulbarsov, Azat Ataev);
  • 3rd place in individual interuniversity competitions in billiards "Pool-8" (Georgy Krepkin);
  • winners of the student tournament "U-CUP TEAM" SPB No. 1 (Ivan Solomatin, Georgy Krepkin, Ekaterina Timosyuk, Georgy Stepanov);
  • winner of the student tournament "U-CUP" SPB No. 6 (Ivan Solomatin).
2020/2021:
  • bronze medalists of the team interuniversity competitions in billiards "Pool-8" (Ivan Solomatin, Georgy Krepkin);
  • bronze medalist of individual interuniversity competitions in billiards "Pool-8" (Georgy Krepkin);
  • winner of individual interuniversity competitions in billiards "Pool-8" (Ivan Solomatin).
2021/2022:
  • bronze medalist of the Russian billiards tournament among transport organizations (Ivan Solomatin);
  • winner of the student tournament "U-CUP PRO" MOSCOW No. 3 (Ivan Solomatin);
  • winner of the inter-regional superfinal of student tournaments U-CUP as part of the St Petersburg team (Ivan Solomatin);
  • 5th-6th places in the team interuniversity competition in billiards "Pool-8" (Ekaterina Timosyuk, Artyom Tereshchenko);
  • top 8 individual interuniversity competitions in billiards "Pyramid" (Ekaterina Timosyuk);
  • silver medalist of individual interuniversity competitions in billiards "Pyramid" (Ivan Solomatin);
  • winners of the New Year's mini-tournament No. 1 at the First St Petersburg State Medical University (PSPbGMU) named after academician I. P. Pavlov (Ekaterina Timosyuk, Ivan Solomatin);
  • winners of the mini-tournament No. 2 at PSPbGMU (Margarita Lnova, Ivan Solomatin);
  • bronze medalist of the festive tournament among students on 23 February (Ivan Solomatin);
  • winner of the 1st Open Cup of St Petersburg Mining University (SPGU) in billiards "Pool-8" among students (Ivan Solomatin);
  • winner of the II open cup of SPSU in billiards "Pool-8" among students (Ivan Solomatin);
  • silver medalists of the mini-tournament No. 3 at the St Petersburg State Medical University (Anna Mokhrina, Ivan Solomatin).

In addition to these competitions, members of the club and the national team participate in team matches against other universities in the format 4×4, 5×5, 6×6, 8×8.
