Boxing and kickboxing

Coach Dmitry V. Safonov

Boxing is a fist fight between two athletes in the ring. Boxing as a sporting action is characterized by direct combat of opponents, requiring maximum neuromuscular tension in a relatively short time.

The fight in the ring takes place in the conditions of:

  • a certain time regime (two-three-minute rounds with minute breaks);
  • variable intensity of work both within the same round and in different rounds, depending on the situation in the battle;
  • sharply expressed strong-willed character of all actions of boxers;
  • constantly changing positions, requiring the ability of a boxer to accurately navigate in a combat situation, instantly and in a timely manner to respond to an attack or counterattack of the opponent.

The goals and objectives of the club are the comprehensive development of physical qualities (strength, speed, coordination, endurance), the development of tactical thinking, the education of discipline, responsibility, the psychological and volitional training of a boxer.

Boxing and kickboxing classes (boys and girls) are held in the SPbGASU sports hall No. 1 (room 418).

Students of our university participate in the championship of St Petersburg among students of higher educational institutions and in the Universiade of St Petersburg universities in boxing (boys and girls) and kickboxing.
