Ice hockey is a sports team game with sticks and a puck on a special ice rink. Currently, hockey is cultivated in many countries of the world, women's hockey is actively developing. Ice hockey (men's and women's) is included in the program of the Olympic Games.

The word "hockey" supposedly comes fr om the Old French hoquet (shepherd's crook with a hook) and, in addition to ice hockey, includes three more varieties: bandy, field hockey and rink hockey (ball hockey on roller skates).

A hockey team appeared in SPbGASU in 2011 and almost immediately took a leading position in the Student Hockey League (SHL) of St Petersburg.

Every year the SPbGASU hockey team of "LISY" takes part in the following competitions:

  • Saint Petersburg Ice Hockey Championship among Universities
  • Championship of St Petersburg for the Cup of the newspaper "Stankt-Peterburgskie Vedomosti" among universities
  • Tournament "White Nights", in which not only St Petersburg universities participate

Sports achievements

Season 2019/2020

At the championship of St Petersburg, the team took 2nd place, in the final series losing to the hockey club of the University named after Lesgaft in two matches with a score of 3:9 and 2:3.

Tournament of St Petersburg: the tournament was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Season 2018/2019

At the championship of St Petersburg, the team took 2nd place, in the final series losing to the hockey club of the University named after Lesgaft in two matches with a score of 1:3 and 1:2 (on shootouts).

Tournament of St Petersburg - 1st place. In the final series, the LISY team defeated the LTU Wolves (Lesopilka) team in two matches with a score of 9:1 and 5:4.

Championship of Russia among universities - 5th place. At the group stage, the "LISY" took 1st place, having won against DSTU from Rostov-on-Don with a score of 33:2, against KNITU from Kazan with a score of 5:2, and in the final game of the group round - against "Timiryazevskiye Zubr" from Moscow with a score of 9:4. In the 1/4 finals, the LISY team lost to the Metallurg team (Novokuznetsk) with a score of 3:6.

Season 2016/2017

  • champions of the Championship of St Petersburg for the Cup of the newspaper "Sankt-Peterburgskie Vedomosti"
  • as winners of the Championship of St Petersburg for the first time in their history took part in the All-Russian final, wh ere the best universities of our country played
