The department was established on 1 September, 2014. Its lecturers specialize in economics, law, information technology (economic security, auditing, forensics, criminology, information security and other fields of knowledge in the sphere of combating criminal acts and other illegal attacks).

The head of the department is Anatoly Konstantinovich Modenov, DSc in Economics and PhD of Juridical Sciences. Professor A.K. Modenov is the author of numerous monographs, articles, and textbooks, and co-author of international monographs, several textbooks and atudy guides on economics and law, as well as economic security. He possesses extensive theoretical and practical experience, gained through his work in law enforcement and government agencies.

The department employs highly qualified teachers, including doctors and candidates of sciences, three of whom are professors and three associate professors of the Higher Attestation Commission.

The department's staff has published more than 20 monographs, 18 textbooks and study guides, and more than 50 articles in international Scopus journals. Department staff have actively participated in the following international conferences and forums:

The department graduates in the specialty 38.05.01 "Economic Security" and awards the qualification "Economist". The duration of study is 5 years.

In total, the department trains more than 350 students.

During their studies, our students are already in demand by enterprises and organizations as specialists in the field of economic and information security (the Federal Antimonopoly Service, committees of the Administration of St Petersburg, Rosfinmonitoring, OOO GC Statut, OOO ABI Trade, OOO GC Brivas, OOO GC TransBalt, etc.).
