History of the Department of Management in Construction

The department was established in 1999 on the basis of the Department of Construction Economics and the Department of Automated Design and Control Systems. The department's first name was the Department of Management.

One of the founders of the department was N. V. Varlamov, laureate of the USSR State Prize, Honored Scientist and Technician of the Russian Federation, DSc in Engineering, Academician of the Russian and St Petersburg Engineering Academies, Corresponding Member of the Petrovskaya Academy of Sciences and Arts, Advisor to the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences, and Honorary Professor of the Oxford Educational Network.

For over 10 years, Professor V.A. Zarenkov, DSc in Economics, Honored Builder of the Russian Federation, Honorary Builder of Russia, Honorary Citizen of Russia, Best Manager of Russia, Person of the Year in the category Economic Revival of Russia (2001), Honorary Architect of Russia, laureate of the Peter the Great National Public Prize, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Etalon Group of Companies, has been sharing his knowledge with students majoring in Management.

Since 2025, DSc in Economics, Professor, and Visiting professor at the department A.N. Asaul, the founder and leader of the scientific school “Methodological problems of the efficiency of regional investment and construction complexes as a self-organizing and self-regulating system” (1998), has been sharing his knowledge and experience at the department.

In 2015, the department was renamed the Department of Organization Management by merging the Department of Management and the Department of Practical Psychology.

In 2018, the department was renamed the Department of Management in Construction, which followed the dissolution of the Department of Economics of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

In 2013, the first intake took place for the bachelor's degree program (profile) "Logistics and Supply Chain Management." In 2021, this program underwent changes and was renamed "Logistics in Construction."

Since 2024, the bachelor's degree programs "Marketing in Construction" and "Human Resources Management" have been implemented, as well as the master's degree program "Project Management in Construction".

In 2025, the department began implementing programs in the field of Business Informatics.

From 2004 to 2020, the department was headed by DSc in Economics, Professor A. A. Petrov.

All department members are highly qualified, including five doctors of science and eight candidates of science.
