Day of Turkish culture in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering

On March 20, 2015 in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there was held a Day of Turkish culture. As a part of the cultural programme at the balustrade of SPSUACE there was organized an exhibition of decorative works of SPSUACE’s student Rabia Akyuz “Relief”.

Vice-rector for academic activity of SPSUACE Irina R. Lugovskaya congratulated students and professors on the Day of Turkish culture: “We all love this country very much. It’s a beautiful culture, having rich traditions and amazing people. It makes us feel happy that citizens of Turkey study in our university. I would like to thank the Russian-Turkish culture centre in Saint Petersburg and the Department of international education and cooperation of SPSUACE for this great day they organized in our university”.

Visitors of the exhibition highly praised the works of the young artist Rabia Akyuz. Using relief technique in pictures and photos she creates 3D images of ancient streets, houses, palaces, their interior, people and landscapes.

There was also organized a work-shop in Turkish traditional art of drawing and ebru where they could learn the unique drawing technique, materials, mastered drawing of various kinds of field, abstractions and tulips. As a memento of the work-shop the participants got their first ebru works in paper.

Drawing alcanna mehndi provoked much interest: master’s table gathered a lot of people. By the end of the Day of Turkish culture all young girls had had thin temporary tattoos as ornaments and figures.

 Participants of the Day of Turkish culture in SPSUACE had a chance to take part in the photo session in traditional national dresses sultan’s palace being at the background. Guests also acquainted with Turkish calligraphy and everybody was given a paper with his name written in a crafty Turkish manner.
