On October 23, 2014 in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there took place Day of Turkmenistan’s culture marking the Independence Day of Turkmenistan. At the opening ceremony there were representatives of Turkmenistan Embassy in the Russian Federation, teachers and students of higher education institutions of Saint Petersburg, chairperson of the National and cultural autonomy “Vatan” and other honorary guests.
Turkmenistan has a long history. Turkmen are one of the most ancient peoples: their roots go to the ancient Iranian languages tribes which were mentioned by ancient historian Herodoth in the 6th century BC and to the Turkish tribes. Modern Turkmenistan is a multinational country: over 40 nationalities live at its territory. Nowadays it has diplomatic relations with over 130 countries. “Russia and Turkmenistan are tied with a common past, and its ties are diverse today. Moreover we feel optimistic about the future – development of relations between Russia and Turkmenistan in terms of higher professional education and science. Over 40 citizens of Turkmenistan study in our university” noted in his greeting speech rector of SPSUACE E.I. Rybnov.
Counsellor of Turkmenistan embassy in the Russian Federation S.T. Durdyev expressed gratitude to the University: “Our countries really have a long history of friendship. We are proud that hundreds of our citizens having studied here return to Turkmenistan and have their own contribution to the development of our country”.
Within the Day of Culture of Turkmenistan there took place a presentation of the photo exhibition “Multifaced country”, national carpets of Turkmenistan and handicrafts. Photo exhibition is a special project, organized by the journal “Turkmenistan” within which there was created a wide panorama of life in modern Turkmenistan.Particular interest for all guests awoke the exhibition of carpets of Turkmenistan. It’s a national treasure of the country. Carpet weaving goes back depth ward centuries. In the 3rd century BC Parthian carpets were widely exported to ancient Europe and estimated by the Russian emperors. Today Turkmenistan carpets are stored in private collections and exhibited worldwide: in Paris, Saint Petersburg, Berlin, Washington and other cities.
Having visited the exposition guests went to the assembly hall. There was organized a concert for honorary guests, professors and students. During the concert there were videos about Turkmenistan and SPSUACE. Audience enjoyed the national dance “Kiusht Depdi”, songs and poems in Turkmenistan languages performed by students of State university of aerospace instrumentation (Ivangorod branch), Saint Petersburg state forest technical university, Saint Petersburg agrarian university, Russian state medical university. SPSUACE’s club “Kirpich” performed music and drama spots. Everyone was impressed violinist Annasoltan Atdaeva. At the end of the concert participants of the project were granted certificates of award.{gallery name='24102014'}
