On 14 March, the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Minsk, hosted the International Scientific and Methodological Conference “Engineering Education in a Digital Society”, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the university.

The St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering was represented by the head of the Division for Curriculum Development and Academic Work Anna Mikhailova, the head of the Division for Digital Competence in Construction Inna Sukhanova, the director of the Institute for Continuing Education Viktoria Vinogradova, the director of the Laboratory of Digital Building Information Models Denis Nizhegorodtsev and the assistant at the Department of Informatics Nikita Gorovoy.

The conference participants were greeted by the rector of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics, Vadim Bogush, who emphasized that modern society cannot exist and develop separately from digitalization, especially in the context of training engineering personnel.

The conference was attended by representatives of educational organizations from Russia, the Republic of Belarus, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and other countries.

Denis Nizhegorodtsev spoke at the section “Training of engineering personnel in the context of digitalization of the economy” with a report on the topic “Modern trends in engineering education: the SPbGASU experience”. The “TIM classes” project, implemented by SPbGASU in collaboration with the Renga Softwear company, aroused great interest among the conference participants. Representatives of Belarusian secondary schools noted that the implementation of the concept of engineering classes in close cooperation with industrial partners plays a big role in the popularization of engineering education.

The “TIM classes” program is part of the educational project “Innovative methodology for developing digital professional competencies among students and specialists in the construction industry”.
