26 May marks Russian Entrepreneurship Day – a celebration of people who create new companies, launch innovative projects, and shape the economy of the future. Today, entrepreneurs are becoming a vital part of the country's technological development: they are implementing modern solutions, developing digital services, and driving forward various industries, including construction.
Modern entrepreneurship is increasingly linked to the university environment. It is at universities that ideas emerge that can later develop into sought-after products and engineering solutions. Therefore, SPbGASU actively supports student initiatives and develops the field of technological entrepreneurship.
One such project is the "Startup as a Diploma" program. It allows students to present not only a research paper but also a fully-fledged startup project with potential for further development and commercialization as their final thesis.
The project is being implemented as part of an initiative by the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education and has been developing at SPbGASU since 2023. Its main goal is to help students explore entrepreneurial opportunities while still studying, learn to address real market demands, and create practice-oriented solutions.
Today, successful project implementation requires more than just professional knowledge. Entrepreneurship requires initiative, the ability to analyze industry needs, work in a team, and propose modern technological solutions. These are the skills that participants in the "Startup as a Diploma" program acquire.
This is especially relevant for the architectural and construction industry, where digital technologies, BIM design, urban services, eco-friendly solutions, and new building materials are rapidly developing. SPbGASU student projects are focused on real-world challenges in the industry and can be in demand by the professional community and potential investors.
A key part of the program is student interaction with business representatives and industry experts. Project participants have the opportunity to consult with practicing professionals, present their ideas, and receive professional feedback. This format helps bring the educational process closer to real-world entrepreneurial conditions.
Furthermore, participation in the project allows students to develop skills in project management, financial planning, public speaking, and teamwork—competencies that are in demand today in both business and professional engineering environments.
SPbGASU consistently supports the development of student initiatives, creating opportunities for the implementation of individual projects and the introduction of innovative solutions. On Russian Entrepreneurship Day, programs that help young professionals take their first steps in technology entrepreneurship and turn their ideas into real projects are especially important.
Startup projects are expected to be defended as early as June. We wish the graduates good luck and continued success in their endeavors!
