From 13 to 24 April, the St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering hosted the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Service Days. A variety of educational, scientific, and extracurricular activities took place. Students not only deepened their professional knowledge but also had the opportunity to try their hand at solving practical problems and meet with industry representatives.

The first part of the program, organized by the faculty's student council, began with a geodetic challenge at the university's main entrance: participants determined the parameters of objects by eye and then compared their results with instrument readings. This format not only tested their intuition but also demonstrated the importance of measurement accuracy in engineering.

The highlight of the first stage was the interactive tables on the lower balustrade of the main building. Here, ecology, engineering, and practical applications came together: students created their own environmental projects, participated in a quiz on their knowledge of laboratory equipment, and tried their hand at diagnosing engineering systems using an endoscope.

In addition, students took part in an environmental cleanup as part of the "We fight for a clean environment" project.

The second part of the program, conducted by the faculty's departments in collaboration with industry partners, gave students the opportunity to gain a closer understanding of practical work in their future fields. The program included open lectures, master classes, and field trips.

On 21 April, students participated in a seminar on "Pipeline system construction" and a master class on pipe welding, which were held jointly with "Mimir Engineering" and "Peterpipe" companies. On 24 April, they attended a lecture on "Ventilation equipment" with the participation of "Fanger" company.

On 22 April, a workshop entitled "Ecology of the Earth: challenges and solutions" was held. Participants discussed current environmental issues and moved from theory to practice, creating their own designer shopping bags to promote the idea of eliminating plastic bags. This format allowed for the combination of environmental education and creative self-expression, making the topic of conscious consumption more accessible and understandable.

Students also learned about modern approaches to engineering systems design and discussed the potential of smart home technologies. A significant portion of the events involved real-life industry practice: participants attended the "Water Resources" conference, the "Power and Electrical Engineering" international exhibition, and the Russian International Energy Forum.

Particular attention was paid to digital technologies. At a master class held by the Department of Information and Mathematical Modeling Technologies, students learned about image processing methods and implemented algorithms in Python, applying them to engineering problems.

The student project "Fractal Arctic," dedicated to the use of fractal models in the design of urban environments in difficult climatic conditions, was also very popular.

The week also included a meeting with representatives of our university's student IT project, Code.ak, to discuss opportunities for student participation in practical projects and professional development.

The Week of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Service concluded with events that emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of the training: lectures on applied mathematics, an introduction to industry equipment, and a mathematics olympiad.

The 2026 FEE&MS Week once again demonstrated that the educational process at SPbGASU extends beyond the classroom. It is a space where theory and practice are combined, and students have the opportunity not only to learn but also to apply their knowledge to real-world problems, developing professional competencies during their studies.
