On last Friday of March students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering visited one of the sites of “LSR. Real estate – North West” company.
First excursion was held within the frame of the mutual project of the leading real estate developer and the main engineering university of Saint Petersburg. It was organized at the site of the residential complex “Sofia”. Students of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering know this part of Frunzensky district as each year first geodesic practical training is held in the park of Internationalists.
To visit the residential cluster of comfort class became a great opportunity for students to realize the scale and quality of construction activity carried out at different stages starting from with excavation of pits used for foundations and ending with a trip about the built house.
Accompanied by the principal engineer on engineering control of “LSR Real estate – North West” company Vladimir Sobolev our students studied the site, visited the office and received exhaustive information about the erection of the building. Student enriched their theoretic knowledge with the personal impressions of visiting the site. In the end of the excursion students were handled booklets of the complex under construction.
Roman Liubertsev, student of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering: “In my opinion one of the principal problems of academic education is that it is difficult to imagine how theoretically explained processes are realized in practice. For example, pile heads removal or reinforcement preparation for future joint grouting of cap plates. Our university of course provides production practical trainings, but after the third course. It is essential to save interest to the chosen specialty. Excursion to “Sofia” residential cluster will be remembered for the strict verification of quality of all works produced at the site. Most of us were surprised to watch and understand how systematic construction activity is at the site”.

Quite frequently we can watch various events which they take an active part in (day of construction companies held in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering, scientific research conferences, open lectures read by directors of the Russian and foreign construction companies, etc.). It is impressive that students are aimed at learning, acquiring new practical experience. That is one of the reasons why students start working when they are students. After graduation from the university most of our alumni get employed according to theirs specialties. Their wish to visit construction companies and their sites pleases us and we are always ready to support it”.
