In Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there was held a lecture of the Italian architect, professor, member of the Swiss association of architects and engineers (SIA) Luigi Fiumara “Organic architecture or a way to stable development. Role of a human being in ecology”.

Degreed architect, professor, member of the Swiss association of architects and engineers (SIA), honored professor of Kiev university of architecture and civil engineering (Ukraine), chairperson of the Internation Forum “Man and architecture” (Дипломированный архитектор, профессор, член Швейцарской ассоциации архитекторов и инженеров (SIA), почётный профессор КНУСА (Киев), председатель Международного Форума «Человек и Архитектура» (Driebergen, Netherlands) read three lectures in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering. His lectures were devoted to efficient and harmonious interaction of nature men and architecture.

Students and professors of the university had a chance to get acquainted with the holistic comprehension of sustainability and effect of architecture on people, principles of organic architecture. During the lectures they could also study issues of organic approach evolution in Europe and America in the beginning of the 20th century and make sure that organic approach is still of contemporary character for modern architecture.

“Professor Luigi’s lectures convinced me of my love to organic architecture, - says one of the students of the Faculty of Architecture Alisa Kuchai. – Organics is a foundation of almost everything. Its reflections can be found in any style.

To my mind this trend needs further development in its pure contents without hi-tech or bionics. Professor Luigi gave a detailed explanation of his view: the spirit of a place, creation of new on the old basis which we are used to – traditions in a new context.

The most interesting as I think is that organics will always be popular. People will always remember traditions and past experience. Anyway events bring us to the origins: using natural materials which are in harmony with the environment. We must introduce new objects into the environment and escape damaging it with lots of concrete and glass. Feelings of people and their emotional state are essential. But is it possible without nature?

We just need to think of the harm we are doing by building we construct, how dangerous it is for us, people. Lots of problems modern people suffer from are based on discomfort. We go to work along the endless featureless streets, enter small uncomfortable two-by-four rooms and sit by compact multi-functional tables. It is necessary to regenerate architectural forms, to introduce them in connection with the spirit of the place, revive tradition forms in new objects in a modernized way. It is simple! It will make us happier! And the main purpose of architects is to create comfortable conditions for people to live and work”.
