On April 15, 2015 as a part of the International art forum “Architectural seasons 2015” in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering Dutch architect Erik van Egeraat gave a lecture to students.

Erik van Egeraat is a world-wide known architect. He was born in 1956 in Amsterdam. In 1984 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Architecture Delfta Technical University. Over 25 years of his successful career as an architect Erik van Egeraat created a unique portfolio of various projects of a highest difficulty level and quality in the Netherlands, Europe and Russia.

Today about 100 buildings in more than 10 countries were built on the basis of his projects. Among his projects there are public and commercial buildings, elite and social accommodations, multi-functional complexes, general plans of cities and regions. Each project expresses architect’s personal view pf architecture and urban planning. Most of his projects have numerous awards. Erik van Egeraat is a winner of a lot of international contests.

The meeting with the Dutch architect took place in the Assembly hall of the university, which was full. Students of the higher education institutions gathered here in order to get acquainted with the famous architect and his art.

The meeting was started by the vice-rector on academic activity of SPSUACE Irina R. Lugovskaya. In her greeting speech she paid particular attention to the importance of similar lectures as they give a chance to get acquainted with the world architecture practice.

The architect told the audience about his rich experience as an architect. For many years and today despite the world finance crisis he has been still creating a complex, sustainable and quite expensive architecture. During the meeting with students of the university Erik van Egeraat presented famous objects such as Drente Museum in Assen (Netherlands), waste incineration plant in Roskill (Denmark), main building of Leipzig University (Germany) and etc.

He also told about his work in Russia. Erik van Egeraat created a number of works in Saint Petersburg. Among his projects are the second scene of Mariinsky theatre, reconstruction of New Holland and congress centre Konstantinovsky. In Khanty-Mansiysk on the basis of his project there was constructed Chess Academy, in Surgut – shopping and recreation centre “Vershina” – a very interesting and unusual building from the point of view of architecture.
